Affordable Weddings
We all hope to have a fairy tale wedding. While our fantasies spare no expense, you don’t have to spend a fortune to have your dream wedding. Affordable weddings can be just as beautiful, and so much more meaningful.
I know that when I say the word “affordable” with regards to a wedding, you’re thinking of a stained dress, wilted flowers, cold food, and a photography student that doesn’t know his lens from his tripod. It doesn’t have to be so terrifying! It is just a matter of deciding what is most important to you. Affordable weddings are all about splurging on key items and passing on others.
If the dress has always been very important to you, then by all means find something that you really love. However, consider a trade-off. Sure, you walk down the aisle in your dream dress, but maybe you cut back on giant floral centerpieces, or make the invitations yourself to off-set the cost of that fabulous dress. You can save hundreds of dollars instantly by opting out of giving wedding favors. Your guests won’t miss a useless trinket. The majority of your costs will be devoted to the the reception venue and food. Consider having your event during the week, or in the afternoon instead of dinner, and you could save a lot of money.
Don’t be cheap, or stingy. Be smart. Plan ahead, and make tough choices about the things that matter most.
Affordable weddings can still be dream weddings. You don’t have to drop big bucks at that wedding mega-retailer to get the dress, invitations, and bouquet of your dreams. (And while we’re on the subject, that is awfully impersonal.) Get creative! Decide what is important to you and your future spouse, and forgo those items that you can live without.
